This Eve: Some Miscellani
Tied a bit. Did a new twist on the WS - used CDC wing instead of soft hackle. I like the one in all black: 8/0 thread, ice dub thorax, black part of turkey for wing case, and white CDC for wing. I think it will be a good emerging midge pattern for SE MN.

I'm always trying to clean and rearrange my shop. I haven't conceptualized a master plan for it yet, but it'll come along at some point. For now, it's a functional room with a lot of tying and fishing gear littered about in semi-ordered fashion. Following are some shots of various corners and angles.

Done some graffiti work, I have: on the ceiling...

...and on the vintage cabinetry. Permanent marker is uncapped whenever I come across something worthy.

Jimmy hung out for quite a while in this room today, and for this brainstorm poem I dutifully acted as recorder:

I think James came up with a Haiku there. I can hear him saying, "okay...?"
I like your ceiling notes.
And the poem by James. Wish I had a typewriter like that... reminds me of how I loved the one we had when I was growing up. It was such a treat to type on that thing. Hurt though, when small fingers punched hard and failed, slipping down between keys. :)
I had a PC in that tying shop, but it wasn't the right fit. I'm trying to rid myself of whirring electronics and needless motors. So the PC went to the recycling center, and a generous typewriter collector gave me that vintage model for free... on the condition that I use it.
Still use a PC, but didn't need that one in that setting.
I personally like the Rouge bottle I see tucked away in there. Is that a dead guy? if it is its one of the best man has ever made. "Dedicated To the Rouge in Each of Us"
Had time to take a closer look at more than just James' poem...
cruious if there is a story that goes with the cute blue tulip and white geese (or are they ducks?)
Also - what kind of hide is that draped over your chair? Mitch has often wondered what happened to an antelope hide that had once been around.
(1) Yes - it is a Dead Guy. Many of the bottles that have been emptied in the shop come to decorate it.
(2) The geese and tulips were a gift from Jadon, picked out by him.
(3) The hide is that of a WT deer, slain by KLW with a bow. He gave it to me a few years back. I don't know where that antelope hide is - funny that something like that could disappear.
dig the poetry. The detritus behind the tying podium is a good indicator of a crucial tying material: beer.
I think I may start writing quotes in sharpy... eh, what the heck, it's a rental...
