Sorry for the double post. Those flies look awesome. So buggy. I do have a question: Why bother tying the peacock herl shellback onto the top of the hook, where it rides on the bottom? It is just to get the body to lay out flat? Thanks.

Right on re peacock: more for the fisherman I guess. But in fairness - the fly is sometimes taken on the sink or on the strip.
This is how I leave my house now:
Walking kid to school, wanting to run laps with him but he doesn't want Dad... he wants to train with his buddies!
Have one backpack and a rod tube and a net that reeks of carp. Dressing clothing from Roughfisher. Two songs while getting dressed: The Big Badass and then Marley Medley by Sublime... the chorus of the latter being: This train is bound for glory!

Those are some I must replicate! And good luck with John. I did do a variation of yours, thinking the same thing about the peacock. With a keel of .030 lead 3/4 shank length and large beard chain or 5/32" eyes on a M3366 #6 or Dai Riki 810 with a marabou tail and rib of red copper wire, and the fur applied in a dubbing loop and trimmed on the bottom I achieved a sexy hook up LOD. WAY to long a sentence, but your flies often inspire me.
