KLW made a visit to the great Southeast this past weekend. We didn't have a lot of time to get out, but I really wanted him to see the gem that is The Driftless Area. So we dunked a few flies for ~1.5 hours. Caught a few fish... nothing to major. The one interesting note: for the first time in my life, caught TWO TROUT SPECIES at once... both brown and bow - the former took the lead PS #18 and the latter took a AFD #20. That was pretty cool. KLW enjoyed the bit I think.

Very cool picture. Was it taken with the Gorillapod? We were discussing that thing the other day, curious about it.
That is actually KLW on the stream. I have experimented with the Gorillapod... it is very cool - I recommend the purchase.

I've been thinking of picking up a tripod, can't decide between a gorillapod and a compact though...

Reading that again, I was confused for a second. Had to enlarge the image to confirm the misunderstading. - it's KLW on the stream and YOU are the one I referred to as the gorillapod! There was no text the first time I viewed the post, and at first impression, it never would've occurred to me that the pic was anyone but you. Really had to take a closer look. I wondered, how the heck does that gorilla pod work? Wendy Berrell must have some kind of super speed to set the timer on the camera and skip over the snow in time to look like he's leisurely casting a fly! Mitch wondered if you had some sort of remote or something! But instead it was a stand-in double we mistook for you. :)
The Gorillapods are cool... but not cool enough to transform me into KLW... or vice versa.
I threw that pic out there with no text, not even thinking about potential confusion.
Back to the pod though - I do recommend - you can literally set the thing up anywhere - on a tree branch, on your head... I've stuck it to a protruding rock in the middle of the stream. I once even fastened to my backpack strap and I walked around like Predator -with a laser-site on my shoulder.
