...sometimes golden wire
the glittering bellies of the Fly
require;
The Peacock's Plumes thy
tackle must not fail,
Nor the dear purchase of the
Sables' Tail.
Each gaudy bird some slender
tribute brings,
And lends the growing Insect
proper wings. (John Gay)
...and how we rue our fate when we find the gilded morsel contains a hook. (Aldo Leopold)

Looks like a tasty early morning breakfast. What did you use for the tails? I'm curious how this pattern would fish in comparison to the one I tied, no tail vs. tail. Perhaps we need to do a semi-scientific experiement and meet, coffee in hand at 6am, really the only true way to find out.
The tails are 7x tippet. Probably not the best idea, but I'll give it a try.
I'm going to work some of the patterns on display over at Gray Goat Fly Fishing - check those out if you haven't already.
I'm all for the field testing - let's work something there.
Very nicely done
